A Big Birthday
A Big Birthday
Sunday, June 24th, my husband celebrated his 70th birthday. I know you can’t believe he’s that old, but God has given him three score and ten years to live and serve Him. I had asked a few close friends and relatives to send cards, but someone else spread the word, and cards poured in. Now cards are displayed all over our family room from those who thought enough of this milestone to send a card, some with just names, but some with remembrances of good times and thanks for the blessing he has been in their lives.
70th Birthday
I am also thankful for the blessing he has been to so many, as well as to me. He has been a wonderful husband to me and father to our five children. I am grateful for the spiritual leader he is to our family and to me. His optimistic outlook, cheerful countenance, loyalty, generosity, and willingness to give hugs to all have endeared him to me and many others.
It is also nice to have someone to mow the grass, fill the car with gas, pay bills, and make airline reservations. He loves each one of his 12 grandchildren and has a great time playing with them. He is ready to give advice, if sought, to our children and others, but is quite reluctant to dispense advice if not asked, though he has loads of wisdom to share. Though he doesn’t cook, he does help around the house. He has a way with words to say the right thing at the right time to someone who needs to hear it, but I can’t beat him consistently in Boggle.
I am delighted to have known Jim Alley for most of these 70 years and have been married to him for almost 47 years. I am thankful that God has allowed us to serve Him together for many years. We plan to continue our global outreach in the coming years.
