Big Giant

BIG GIANT…..”

When our two youngest children were growing up, they had a phrase for almost anything that was of great or large size. It was the phrase that titles this paragraph.-BIG GIANT. If the tree was exceptionally tall, it was——you guessed it, a big giant tree. The adjectival phrase might be applied to trucks, trains, planes, amusement park rides or people. It was their way of expressing the maximum in quantity for any single unit. Read more »

Drumming up the Future

For hundreds of years, a major mode of communication in some places on the African continent involved the use of drums. Messages could be sent for many miles, from village to village using this method. There is a proverb based on this scenerio of communication by drum that states, “the one who beats the drum does not know how far the sound will go.” Read more »
