View of Cobbly NobView of Cobbly NobAlthough my husband had preaching engagements and I wanted to sell a few books, we also took time to unwind in a cabin in Cobbly Nob in the Smokies. Here are a couple of pictures from our vantage point on top of the mountain. Porch rocker in the Smokies

Events at Virginia Tech April 2007

After my husband returned from India where he and the men with him had a wonderful spiritual time and I returned from visiting grandchildren and my sister, we took a few days off between speaking engagements in Tennessee. We were joined in the Smokey Mountains by our son David and his family where we reveled in the beauty of God’s creation by hiking and enjoying each others company. A comfortable, spacious cabin was our base while close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge in all kinds of weather from sunny and pleasant to rainy, snow and high winds. . Read more »

Latest trips update

Last Monday afternoon, April 2nd, my husband and I met in Greensboro after he returned form India with 4 other men, and I returned from Texas to visit my grandchildren and North Carolina to visit my sister. We were tired when we arrived at home, but both had good trips. He was excited about the great time of fellowship and preaching opportunities they had. I was excited about spending time with loved ones and helping them with various chores. Read more »

Home Again, Jiggety Jig

We finally made it home on Monday afternoon after leaving Ho Chi Minh City on Friday morning (Thursday night for us in the U.S.). Yes, we made an unscheduled stop in Illinois when our flight from Chicago to Roanoke was delayed, then cancelled. Friends in Rockford invited us to come for the week-end. Since we had come from 95 degree weather in Vietnam, we had no clothes suitable for a northern Illinois winter, even if we had our luggage with us, which we didn’t. However, I had enough in my carry-on bag to spend a night elsewhere, just not enough for a whole week-end. Read more »

In and out

Yes, we are home again for less than three weeks before our next project. Our last trip took us to the cold northern Illinois winter and to the balmy breezes of Mexico. The conference in Cuernavaca, Mexico, was extremely valuable with 7-8 hours of reports and messages for three days and welcome and farewell banquets. We heard of Mexican missionaries going to other countries, a radio station established in Baghdad, Iraq, as well as seeing videos of God working in various parts of the world. It is almost unbelievable how the gospel is going to certain regions of the world. Read more »

We're off again!

January 2007 report:
Alleyway missions is about to go “on the road” for 2007. After a blessed year in 2006, we are greatly encouraged as to the present opportunities. Last year saw unexpected doors open, unanticipated numbers of people whom we were allowed to train, counsel and supply. We were also blessed with a significant number of professions of faith. What an uplifting development this was! Read more »

Australia and New Zealand

IT’S A LONG WAY TO AUSTRALIA……NOT TO MENTION NEW ZEALAND

Forgive us, especially you who entered our labors in the above mentioned countries, with your prayers and/ or financial support. We are late (grandkid delayed would be a better description) in communicating blessings and challenges encountered and experienced in our recent ventures. Read more »

Falling Leaves

We are back from “Down Under” (Australia and New Zealand). I am still trying to get over jet-lag, a very real phenomenon. I should be all right soon.

We were glad to see the beautiful fall colors still on the trees when we arrived back in Central Virginia, but alas, it is November and the leaves have fallen off now. Our yard is covered in brown leaves which have to be raked or blown away. We do enjoy the trees and the shade they give in the summer, but I dread leaf-raking time. Here we are again. If you have deciduous trees, you know what I mean. Read more »

High tech, low tech

Today I am sitting at my computer writing to my friends who check our web site. Last week we rented a beach house for a couple of days, and my first question was: does it have a wireless connection so I can check and send email if I take my laptop? It did not, but no problem We relaxed by walking on the beach, reading and talking.

Low tech stuff. Actually, NO tech stuff. Many of us are so caught up in iPods, laptops, and cells that we forget that there are other ways to communicate and have fun. Read more »

Big Giant

BIG GIANT…..”

When our two youngest children were growing up, they had a phrase for almost anything that was of great or large size. It was the phrase that titles this paragraph.-BIG GIANT. If the tree was exceptionally tall, it was——you guessed it, a big giant tree. The adjectival phrase might be applied to trucks, trains, planes, amusement park rides or people. It was their way of expressing the maximum in quantity for any single unit. Read more »

Spoiling the Baby and Playing with a Princess

We had a great time in Texas with our two granddaughters and our new grandson. Baby Asher is a very handsome baby and looks like his father.

Yes, I am prejudiced, but aren’t all moms? We took turns holding him between feedings and filling his “sugar box.” Although he was just over a month old when we left, he could focus on my face when I talked to him. He is so cuddly, we have spoiled him for his mom and dad, but we just couldn’t help it – he’s such a precious baby. Read more »
