Home sweet home!
Submitted by maryb on Fri, 06/02/2006 - 21:07When my husband brought up the subject of a vacation, I nixed the idea. I didn’t want to see another airport for a while, get on another airplane or go somewhere besides home. I was tired of traveling and living out of a suitcase. Of course, he was ready to board a plane right away and go any time. Since he resigned in January of 2005, we have been traveling every month except December, and even then he squeezed in a trip to Vietnam with three other men. In ministry he has been speaking in different churches in our area and in other states. Read more »

Holy Week in Mexico
Submitted by maryb on Wed, 04/26/2006 - 19:29Holy week in Mexico means two weeks off school for the young people. Many from Mexico City migrate to the city of Cuernavaca, the city of eternal spring, for vacation. The population of the city swells during this time.
Red lilies were growing along with green grass, vibrant red, lavendar, and deep purple bougainvillas which spilled over walls and grew in medians of the streets. Other delicate blue flowers grew with bird-of-paradise plants in hedges. It is a beautiful city. Where else can one buy two dozen red, long-stemmed roses or less than $4 - less than 40 pesos! Drumming up the Future
Submitted by DrJim on Fri, 04/14/2006 - 17:13For hundreds of years, a major mode of communication in some places on the African continent involved the use of drums. Messages could be sent for many miles, from village to village using this method. There is a proverb based on this scenerio of communication by drum that states, “the one who beats the drum does not know how far the sound will go.” Read more »

Sandstorms and Snowstorms

Israel, a sandstorm diverted our flight to Cyprus for a few hours
resulting in a late arrival. Our first day in Egypt was followed by two
days of sandstorms when we could smell the sand in the air and
visibility was obscured. In contrast, we encountered significant snow
and cold weather in Jordan and France. Read more »
