Family Time

September 2007

Last week we were really busy with three grandchildren and their parents here. Three of our children and their families and friends helped us celebrate Labor Day with traditional hamburgers and hot dogs and the fixings. When friends of our children dropped by, we had eleven adults, three teens, and eight children under seven years of age. It was a happy chaos. Another day and night we kept three of the young children while their parents took time away. It takes a lot of energy to keep up with three active youngsters, but we miss them terribly now that they are back home.

This week I have been trying to clean and sort through things to be put back, thrown away or given away. I don’t like that job, but it has to be done. I am also updating our display for our home church mission conference next week.

In the midst of all of the flurry of people and things to be attended to, my husband has been sick. He is hardly ever sick, and if he is, he recovers in a brief time. He has been running a fever and aching for several days. Today he feels better as the high-powered and high-priced antibiotics seem to be doing the job.

The old saying about a woman’s work never being done is true. There is always something to be done around the house from washing clothes, cooking meals, cleaning, ironing, and now, checking email. I am thankful that I am able to do all these tasks. When I think of others who are disabled cannot do what they would like to, I am indeed fortunate.

I hope all of you are enjoying cooler temperatures and the coming of autumn..
