Home Again, Jiggety Jig
We finally made it home on Monday afternoon after leaving Ho Chi Minh City on Friday morning (Thursday night for us in the U.S.). Yes, we made an unscheduled stop in Illinois when our flight from Chicago to Roanoke was delayed, then cancelled. Friends in Rockford invited us to come for the week-end. Since we had come from 95 degree weather in Vietnam, we had no clothes suitable for a northern Illinois winter, even if we had our luggage with us, which we didn’t. However, I had enough in my carry-on bag to spend a night elsewhere, just not enough for a whole week-end. My husband only had the clothes (summer) on his back. We went shopping Saturday morning and found an 80% off sale at Kohl’s where I bought enough to get by along with a friend’s borrowed dress. Jimmy struck it rich at Walmart.
What a great time with long-time friends, even if we had not planned this rendezvous. The weather was 70 degrees colder than where we had been, but the buildings and the fellowship were warm.
My husband enjoyed the opportunity to teach in the morning and to present visuals of our ministry Sunday evening.
I am always glad to be home from a trip, even if it means mountains of laundry, mail and other details to sort through. I think I am almost over jet-lag now since it has been almost a week since we left Vietnam.
Thanks to all of you who are interested in our travels and support us with prayer. All we had on our agenda we accomplished. It was a busy time, but profitable, we hope. The results will be known as we hear from the different meetings we had while there.
