Home sweet home!
When my husband brought up the subject of a vacation, I nixed the idea. I didn’t want to see another airport for a while, get on another airplane or go somewhere besides home. I was tired of traveling and living out of a suitcase. Of course, he was ready to board a plane right away and go any time. Since he resigned in January of 2005, we have been traveling every month except December, and even then he squeezed in a trip to Vietnam with three other men. In ministry he has been speaking in different churches in our area and in other states.
For 17 months we have been out of town or out of the country. Don’t misunderstand, I like what we are doing and visiting and ministering to and with our friends and family in different cities, countries and cultures, but I am glad to be home too. We have been home for three whole weeks now. Instead of doing laundry, surface cleaning the house, checking emails, writing updates on the last trip and putting together PowerPoint presentations for different places where we have been asked to present our work, I have had a few days to do other things. I have washed all the windows in my house as well as taking down all the curtains that can be washed and washing them. That was no small job as I had to take out about 3,500 pleat pins from the drapes … well it seemed like that many since it killed my fingers to take out and put back all those pins. Anyway, some of the curtains had to be ironed too, but in two days, I had to job all done. Of course, there’s always regular house work to do, as well as cooking supper each night.
Yes, I get tired and want to sit down and read a book, but I still like to be here to do all these tasks and thank the Lord I am able to do them.
Another project for me this summer has been to update my photo albums. I am now up to 2003. I know, I should keep up, but how can I when we are gone most of the time? Not to mention the fact that I take tons of pictures wherever we go. I have a few of shots of the pyramids in Egypt, but my grandchildren get much more shutter time. I have to have my priorities straight, don’t I?
I could go on about my activities, but I won’t except to say, I am glad to be home and do “normal” things now. The next few months may be different.
