Vacation time in May
Time Off
Our first extended vacation in four years in London and Athens May 2007
On April 30, two weeks after our return from ministering in Tennessee, we left for London to see our son and his family. London was cold in May, although it did not rain as much as usual and warmed up considerably by the time we came home three and a half weeks later.
In London we took our grandson, Jake, to the park to play almost every morning and to nursery school in the afternoon. He is a bright blonde four-year-old with an energetic personality. We had great fun watching him or giving chase when he wanted someone to “catch” him. Our son, Lee, refurbished our web site, and his wife cooked wonderful meals for us while we were there. We did take a couple of days to see sites, but mostly played with Jake.
My husband’s nephew lives in Athens, Greece, with his family, so we took a week during our London time to visit them. While in Athens, we rode the Metro as well as visited several museums, saw the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, and the Temple of Zeus. One day we went on a cruise to three quaint and picturesque islands. Another day we went to Delphi. Before leaving nephew Steve took us to the southernmost point of the country to see the Temple of Poseidon.
What a time we had in both metropolitan cities, but I was glad to get home, as always. Laundry had to be done, mail gone through, and the house cleaned, but it was good not to be living out of a suitcase and knowing where things are.
Let us know of your travel plans for this summer or whenever your vacation rolls around.
