What A Week!
July 29 – August 3, 2007
A week-end trip to North Carolina to encourage one of our protégés was a special time. He did an excellent job of speaking, and an overnight with these friends was great.
However, while we were gone, a storm hit our area dumping five inches of rain in our neighborhood in a short time. This downpour led to literally pulling the plug on a small lake behind our house to prevent washing out the dam. When we returned home, we saw a mud hole where our lake had been. Dry Lake: Drained Lake In addition to that, our whole yard smelled like dead fish. Fortunately, the odor only lasted a couple of days.
Within minutes of our return on that day, we heard the news that a friend had been killed in a motorcycle wreck. What a shock to think of not seeing his smiling face this side of glory. Of course, we attended the visitation after waiting for an hour to see the family on Wednesday evening. Thursday was the funeral with a huge crowd of people attending, which meant this man had many friends.
Now we are trying to catch up with cleaning, gardening, canning, and quilting. No matter what else goes on, there are always things to be done around the house. Since this is the longest we have been home in months, we are trying to take advantage of it and complete these tasks. We hope your summer is going well. We would like to hear from you.
